Google Shopping’s 500 x 500 photo minimum
FrançaisAcuarela · Adwaizer AI Consulting Inc.
From 31 January 2027, Google Shopping asks for product photos of at least 500 x 500 pixels.
The date and the size are Google’s. This page is our short reading of them; Google’s help page is the source, and its wording wins if the two ever differ.

What counts as small
The free scan counts a product when one of its photos is under 500 pixels wide or under 500 pixels tall.
So a wide banner shot of 1200 x 400 pixels counts, even though it is large in one direction.
A photo whose size your store does not publish is not counted.
What to check before 31 January 2027
- Run the free scan on your store. Its “Also worth fixing” list counts the products with a small photo and names up to three of them.
- Open each of those products in your store admin and look at every photo, not only the first one: Google reads the main image and the additional images.
- In the Acuarela app, “Catalog health” lists your photos under 500 x 500 pixels, each with its size, so you can see which photo to replace.
- Where you have a larger original of the same shot, upload it in place of the small one.
- Run the scan again after your changes. The scan keeps a store’s result for 30 minutes, so check back after that.
